Are you a web owner? Are you wondering why your site is not doing very well in the e-community in spite of your glamorous web designs? Aren't you making any money at all? If all your answer to these questions is YES then it's high time you sit back and examined in what aspect of your web site you have made a mistake.
There are certain consumer facts that should be considered in conceptualizing the designs for your web site. Take for instance, the fact that nobody really cares about you or your site but you the owner alone. Now, that's reality!-you see most web visitors only care about having their problem solved. Web visitors often visit sites for four reasons and these are as follows: 1.to look for information 2. They want to buy something and feel that the web is the most convenient place to look for it. 3. They have to make a donation and it happens that the foundation has a corresponding web site that can be conveniently reached in the net and 4. They want to be entertained and the net provides the quickest means of entertainment.
These four facts should be considered in formulating the web design since web sites are not only means of opening up new marketing opportunities but should function more of a problem solver for most needs of customers. Another thing, which should be considered in web designing, is the complexity of the design. Web visitors should be able to look at the homepage of your site and figure out what your site is all about in less than four seconds. If your site can't do this, then your site is a failure. Most web visitors just don't have the time to waste in staying around your site to figure it out.
And of course, following web standards should not be forgotten since it can help your site to be search engine friendly, reduce bandwidth, etc... In addition, it is very important to focus on the usability of your web site. The usability of your web site will put everything in perspective.
Likewise it is imperative to create designs that won't get in your way to make that sale. There are certain designs that get in the way of visitors and keep them from purchasing from you. These designs serves are presentations of the product and services you offer. However, some of the designing techniques used can really get in the way of customers take for example splash pages, FlashSplash pages, animations, and then the lack of focal point on the page, too much text, too many pictures and many more. These designs instead of helping simply destructs your visitors from doing what they are suppose to be doing in your site and that is to purchase-its like holding back your visitors from signing the contract just because you are not yet through with your presentation. Limit the use of designing techniques and if possible keep your designs simple and direct. And another thing, refrain from using confusing links and if possible use simple words to instruct visitors on what to click next, in other word KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.
